Nestled in the heart of Cape May County, the SJ Ospreys Softball Organization stands as a vibrant community dedicated to the love of softball. We unite young athletes, seasoned coaches, supportive families, and community sponsors in a shared mission: to make competitive softball accessible and enjoyable for all.

Our Core Values

Accessibility: We strive to remove financial barriers, ensuring every girl with a passion for softball has the opportunity to play.

Development: Our approach emphasizes comprehensive development, focusing on enhancing athletic skills, fostering teamwork, and nurturing leadership qualities.

Competition: While we prioritize development, we also prepare our athletes for the competitive aspects of softball, instilling a spirit of sportsmanship and strategic thinking.

About the Coaches

Jamie Culican – Head Coach
Jamie Culican is a seasoned coach with over 20 years of experience and a decorated background as a collegiate catcher, honored with the AMCC 25th Anniversary Award. As Head Coach for MTBSA, she led teams to multiple league and District 16 championships. She currently coaches high school softball as the JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant, known for her passion for player development and love for the game. Jamie also holds USA Baseball coaching and umpiring certifications.

Daniel Culican – Head Coach
With over 20 years of coaching experience, Daniel Culican has led teams at every level—from T-ball to minors—across 12 seasons in South Jersey. He has served as Head Coach for both Millville and MTBSA, and has coached multiple All-Star teams. Daniel holds several coaching and umpiring certifications through USA Baseball and brings a deep understanding of the game, a calm leadership style, and a strong passion for player development to the SJ Ospreys.

Cortney Walters – Head Coach
Cortney Walters brings 11 years of Head Varsity High School coaching experience and numerous years as a Head Travel Softball Coach to the SJ Ospreys. Her leadership has shaped competitive teams at both the school and travel levels, with a strong focus on player development, discipline, and love for the game. Cortney is known for building programs that foster growth on and off the field, preparing athletes for the next level with skill and confidence.

Scott Beck – Assistant Coach
Scott Beck brings years of experience as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach with MTBSA, as well as Assistant Coach experience at the travel softball level. Known for his steady presence and dedication to player growth, Scott has been instrumental in developing young athletes through fundamentals, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. His passion for the game and supportive coaching style make him a valuable asset to the SJ Ospreys staff.
